Goats!!!

There is just something about
baby goats that brings a smile to almost everyones face.  For me, the thought of baby goats brings up images in my mind of playful little goats running around a meadow or leaping on rocks and over fences!  Some even have the audacity to jump up onto the backs of other farmyard animals to hitch a ride.  So cute!

So when I spied this adorable goat pattern on Facebook I had to buy it right away!  You can find the pattern here.

I am able to complete one of these cute little varmints in an evening, and they have been a favourite at the craft shows.  The head and the body are made separately and then stitched together.  I love that the legs are crocheted right onto the body for a smooth seamless look.  A ribbon or crocheted collar around the neck help to cover any visible seam where the head and body are attached.  I think a little grey goat will be my next goaty project!  And since I am currently all out of goats, I'd better get busy on that right away!

BLUEY

I love doing craft shows!  Have I ever mentioned that before?  It keeps me on my toes with my amigurumi.  Someone is always asking if I do this or that character.  And since I love a challenge and something new to look forward to making, I try to find patterns to fill their requests.

For the past few weeks I have been thinking about Bluey.  I searched my favourite places for patterns and finally settled on one from CherryBlossomByOana on Etsy.  The pattern is well written and easy to follow.

I have been trying to use up much of my yarn stash for projects lately, so the colors I had on hand are not exactly the same as the pics posted by the designer, but I am thinking they are close enough that he is recognisable as the character he is supposed to be.

It did take me a week or two to muster up the inspiration  and desire to make this guy.  He is cute, but my heart just was not really into this project.  You know how sometimes a project just doesn't grab you and you have to just plod through and make it anyway?  This was that project.

So, my hubby and I were planning a weeks visit to our daughter in Ohio, and knowing that she and our son-in-law would be working nearly every day and that our grandsons would be in school, I took Bluey along to work on during the quiet of the days.

Having finished Bluey, I can't say he was my favourite project.  I'm not sure why.  The pattern is simple enough for a beginner.  The character is actually quite cute. I think it must be that my choice of colors just didn't really pop for me.  When you are trying to use up your yarn stash, sometimes you just have to go with the colors you have on hand.

All in all I think he turned out well.  But it will likely be awhile before another Bluey is found on my hook.

Blessings!

Carrying On....

I don't know what I was expecting as we settled into a quieter and less stressful routine, but so far it has been kind of nice.  To be able to do things with family and friends on the spur of the moment has been fun.  I don't have to adhere to a schedule as before.  I don't feel stressed about procrastinating as much.  I believe we are going to do ok.

I have been busy making  Daniel Tiger Hats for my Etsy shop. These are the cutest darn things for any child that loves Daniel Tiger!  Most orders say that they are wanted as part of a Halloween Costume and will then be worn all winter!  It makes me happy to think of all those little Daniel Tigers trick or treating this fall!

These are the latest two shipped this week.

I am also still busy with craft shows and orders associated with them.

This Saturday will be my last Farmers Market for this year, but I still have several weekend craft shows scheduled.  And then it will be time to think about Christmas!

I'm not sure yet what I will plan for Christmas this year.  Some fun fami ly time would be great, but half of my grown up kids and their families live in another state, so getting the whole family together for any special event is nearly impossible.  I am open to suggestions!

But for now, there is time to  think about it.  And while I think it over, I'd best be busy making Varmints.

So, back to hooking for now.  You just can never have too many Varmints around.

Blessings!

Well, it's been about 2 years since my last post!  But it has been an extremely busy 2 years.  Extra time for blogging has been non-existent.  But, thankfully, things are beginning to settle down.

So, what have I been doing the past 2 years?    Mostly helping family.  Also doing craft shows when the timing worked out.  A lot of crocheting because that's my stress reliever.

But I wouldn't trade these last 2 years for anything!  I have spent some delightful time caring for a couple of toddler grandsons that have really kept me on my toes.

These guys have given me so much joy!  But things have changed and I won't have them as much now.  They will be going to preschool and living a couple hours away.  It's a bittersweet moment to say the least.

But it's also a new season!  Time to redirect my time and energy into something else.  It will be interesting to see what direction life will go now.

I will post pics of some of my favourite makes in future posts, so check in often!  Until then, be blessed!
